Misty ... If I were to describe my perfect version of an “Alpha” bitch, in one word, it would be Misty. She rules our Vizsla pack with a gentle authority. She is the one that teaches the new puppies their manners. She romps with them and teaches them dog games until she tires. Then she retires to the couch and reminds them how to respect her position. She has never spilled a drop of blood while disciplining other dogs. All it ever takes is the look. Each morning, she greets each of our dogs as the leave their kennels with a gentle mouth to their neck. Just a reminder of who is Alpha. At 9:00 each evening, she starts her little dance to let the other dogs know it’s time for their last trip outside before bedtime. Misty no longer sleeps in a kennel at night. Since Carl has been unable to climb the stairs to the bedroom, Misty has been his night time guardian.
